Runningthebulls.com broke the news of Mississippi Gulf Coast tight end Marlon Pope committing to USF. The three-star junior college prospect is the 19th commitment of the class.
"I just talked to Coach Taggart," he told RTB right after he committed. "It went pretty good. He just asked me if I was ready to come in and compete and if I was ready to come in and start and play ball."
USF has been Pope's leader all along, and loved his official visit to USF for the Bulls win against Cincinnati.
"I'm very excited because that's where I want to be at. There needs to be a change there and I think I can help that."
The Bulls' coaching staff and Pope have gotten along very well, and Pope says that's a huge reason for his commitment.
"They played a big role. They treated me like I was family from the start to finish."
Pope will enroll early, and will have a chance to play right away.
"It's going to be good coming in as a junior because I know how fast college football is and I know what it takes to win. I know it's not easy."
