South Florida added international tight end Brandon Kubay last month during a flurry of commitments to the Bulls around head coach Alex Golesh's birthday. Kubay played last season at Clearwater Academy International just down the road from USF but the Canadian tight end will play his senior season at St. Thomas Moore in Connecticut.
He spoke with Bulls Insider about his decision to commit to USF. For Kubay, his commitment was inevitable.
"I just knew it was the place for me and it was only a matter of time until I pulled the trigger. Also me being in Tampa I am very close to USF so I got to build a great relationship with the staff," he told Bulls Insider.
Kubay jumped on video with the USF staff when he committed so he could see the reactions of Golesh and his staff as he told them the news.
"I got to talk to almost all the staff over FaceTime and they were amped," he said of the reaction to his commitment.
Kubay's mother came with him to Tampa on his official visit and he said his family knew that USF was going to be the winner in his recruitment .
"They all knew USF was home for me from the beginning so it was only a matter of time," he said.
With his commitment in place, Kubay is locked in and will sign with USF in December.
"I’m excited to be done with the recruiting aspect and now I can just focus on being the best player I can be," he said.
