Taylor looking to the future of his recruitment

Rivals150 guard Mike Taylor's recruitment has really intensified.

The Brooklyn (NY) Boys & Girls product boasts offers from schools such as Maryland, Pitt, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, South Florida, and St. John's. And recently that total increased with a SEC school throwing their hat into the ring.

"My recruiting process is going real good right now," said Taylor. "The latest offer that I have is South Carolina. There have been coaches coming up for camps to see me play."
With many options to choose from, Taylor will have the arduous task of breaking each choice down at some point. However, four schools are currently rising above the rest and grabbing his attention.
"Rutgers, South Florida, South Carolina, and Pitt are sticking out right now," Taylor revealed.
Taylor explained that each of the four schools have a common thread that is contributing to their successful efforts.

"Those schools like me at guard and they say that I can shoot the ball well," he said. "The coaches have been telling me that they like true guards that can shoot the ball well and I just like those schools. I like the offenses."

The South Florida Bulls have been very interested in Taylor and active throughout his recruitment process. Recently, a Bulls assistant traveled to see Taylor in action once again.

"I saw their assistant coach, Coach Reggie (Hanson), at my games on Friday so I was happy to see them watching me play."

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard has thought the upcoming months through with some detail. Not only does he want to take official visits, but Taylor also has a tentative timeframe of when he would like to announce his commitment.

"I am planning on taking all of my visits this fall maybe in September," he began. "I want to try and make my decision in early December before the season starts so I can that out of the way and focus on the season.
"I am going to try to take all five of my official visits," Taylor added. "I might not take too many visits to schools that are local because I am familiar with them and I have been on their campus so many times so I don't want to waste one on those because I have already seen them. So I want to go to schools I haven't seen before."

Taylor knows at least three schools that are sure to get an official - and maybe a fourth.

"South Florida, South Carolina, Pittsburgh," "Maybe Rutgers too," he said.

Aside from recruiting, Taylor has continued to refine his own skill set to achieve even more success on the basketball court.

"I have been working at point guard," he explained. "I think I have been playing that pretty well for the last year and in the summertime. My hands are getting better ever since my sophomore and junior years and now I just need to get stronger too."
