USF offered a talented 2015 running back Saturday in Niceville (Fla.) Shi'kim Coward. He talked to Runningthebulls.com about the offer from the Bulls - who are one of his early favorites.
"My running backs coach called me yesterday and let me know that I had an offer from USF," Coward said. "Coach (Stu Holt wanted to talk to me so I called him and he basically told me that I was a running back that they needed - and I had a full ride from USF."
Coward has already stepped on the USF campus - with a teammate that just picked up a USF offer as well.
"Not too long after that they offered one of my teammates Tyre McCants - so that's great. Me and Tyre visited USF I think when we went to the Rivals Challenge which was early summer. We really liked it too - they're high on our list."
What has stood out about USF to Coward?
"The campus, the coaches - just everything about USF and it's a great academic school too."
Coach Holt offered the 5-foot-8 168-pound do-it-all tailback.
"He came and watched us at our spring practice - we talked from there. Coach Holt is a real cool person."
Did the USF offer surprise Coward?
"Not really because we've been talking back and forth. I was expecting it. Once I got it I was real stoked about it cause they were in my top 5 already."
Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, USF, and Florida round out his top five.
"I talk to Coach White [from Florida] last week and they were saying how they were going to offer me soon so I'm pretty stoked about that."
"Georgia Tech - they run the football downhill and that's the type of running back I am. They're high on my list right now."
Coward was one of five underclassmen from Florida who participated in the Rivals Underclassmen Challenge in Dallas earlier this month.
