Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay running back Matt Dayes might be one of the most underrated players at his position in the entire country.
This season Dayes ran for 1,783 yards on 253 carries with 25 touchdowns, including a 170-yard, four-touchdown performance in the Florida 8A state title game vs Apopka (a 53-50 loss).
Recruiting seemed to pick up for Dayes after his eye-opening performance in the state title game.
"It got crazy with new schools talking to me and setting up visit dates," said Dayes.
Dayes gave a soft verbal commit to North Carolina St. in late November, however, when the Wolfpack fired Tom O'Brien and hired former NIU head coach Dave Doeren, Dayes then decided it was time to explore other options.

In addition to NC State, the 3 star recruit expressed interest in Vanderbilt, USF, UCF (where he's visiting this weekend), and Rutgers.
Dayes does have plans to visit USF, but he does not have an official date set. The visit could come in the next week, but it is not clear.
Dayes also plans to take one to Vanderbilt as well.
Dayes said that before Willie Taggart was hired, USF was not even on his radar. Much like USF QB commit Mike White; Dayes said one of the most appealing things about the program is the offense that Taggart is bringing in.
As far as playing time goes, Dayes says that while it is important to get on the field early, he isn't opposed to the idea of redshirting his first year on campus.
Dayes does not have a set in stone top three, but said that he would be making his decision before signing day on February 6th.
