The Manatee Hurricanes knocked off the East Lake Eagles 38-7 in the pre-season fall kickoff classic game. There will a ton of prospects on hand with USF offers - including George Campbell, Artavis Scott, Mason Cole, and Jake Stickler.
In this article, we'll breakdown the uncommitted USF targets and current Bulls' commits - grading their performance.
Manatee running back Trevon Walters was very impressive on the night. He ended the game with 85 rushing yards on 17 attempts and scored two goal line touchdowns. Walters did his work in between the monstrous Manatee offensive tackles - Michael Galati and Jake Stickler. Walters was the work-horse in the first half with his 11 carries - he nearly matched his first half rushing total in the second half on only six carries. Walters had a ton of yardage after first contact, and was a tough tackle for the East Lake front seven.
Michael Galati: B+
The Manatee left tackle and USF commit was great in protecting quarterback Josh Meyer and opened up holes all night long for Walters. Galati did not allow a sack, and extended his blocking in the bubble screen game. Galati went up against an extremely quick and athletic defensive end in George Campbell, but Galati checked the young stud with relative ease. Just a great all-around performance for Galati - just pushing defenders back into the second level consistently.
Devin Abraham: C+
Abraham had some good moments and a few not so good moments. Manatee did not test East Lake deep once on the night - so Abraham didn't get to show off any of his coverage skills. When Abraham came down and tackled the ball carrier, he hit pretty hard - definitely left a few bruises on the night. On a jet sweep play ran by Manatee, Abraham got juked out of his shoes and allowed the touchdown. Other than that, Abraham played a pretty good ballgame - but just wasn't tested much at free safety.
