TAMPA--The
USF Bulls(11-17, 2-14) look to string together their first winning streak since the end of December, when they won four in a row. Standing in there way are the
Connecticut Huskies(19-9, 9-7). Tipoff from the Sun Dome is set for 9:00 PM.
The Bulls are coming off of just their second Big East win of the season against DePaul on March 3rd. The 83-73 victory on senior night snapped a 10-game losing streak that USF was previously on.
The Huskies will be a bit shorthanded in this game, as they will be dressing only seven players. UConn could be without their leading scorer
Shabazz Napier. However, they'll be without one of their premiere post players
Niels Giffey as well as
Enosch Wolf. Napier comes into the game averaging over 17 points.
UConn leads the all time series with USF 10-1. The Huskies won the first meeting against the Bulls up in Storrs earlier this season 69-64. USF jumped out to a 12-point halftime lead but eventually went to overtime and lost. Napier hit two three-pointers on the first two Huskies possessions to give UConn the lead and eventually the win.
The USF seniors look to finish their final home game of their careers with a victory over UConn. If they can shoot the way they did against Depaul, then the Bulls will be well on their way.
