While the Bulls' football team takes center stage against Western Kentucky this weekend, the South Florida basketball program will welcome in an important visitor.
Andre Jackson, a 6-foot-10, 285-pound big man, will travel to Tampa to check out coach Stan Heath's program. For Jackson, he is most looking forward to taking it all in and learning as much as he possibly can on his visit.
"I just want to get there and have a good feeling about it," said Jackson. "I want to learn more and more about the school and the environment around it."
The Lee College product has yet to visit South Florida, but he has begun to take it upon himself to learn all that he can before arriving on campus.
"I haven't visited there before," he said. "I know a little bit about the program, but I am learning more and more."
Something Jackson is very familiar with is the coaching staff at USF.
"Yeah I think I have formed a nice relationship with those coaches over there," he explained. "I speak to Coach Cox the most."
The topic of how he would feature in the Bulls system is a topic that has been discussed between Jackson and the coaches. From what he can tell, Jackson likes what he has heard.
"I really like how they utilize the big men and I think that I could fit in real good," he revealed. "I think I could step in and be effective."
A major draw for Jackson toward USF is the competition of the Big East and the opportunity to play in one of the best, if not the very best, conference in the country.
"That is something that I am looking forward to," Jackson said.
Jackson explained that he most likely won't be the only member of his family on the trip.
"Probably just my father," he said. "That will probably be it. He has said that if I feel comfortable with it and it is a good situation then I should go check it out."
