10 Questions With 2018 Three-Star PG ‘Rondo’ Segu

Ronaldo ‘Rondo’ Segu is a dynamic floor general who can make defenders dizzy when he is pushing the tempo and dishing to teammates. He’s quick, unselfish, an eager facilitator in the pick and roll, makes those around him better and hounds opposing point guards defensively.

The rising senior, who attends Orlando Christian Prep (Orlando, Fla.), recently took an unofficial visit to South Florida. He talks about that and more in this one-on-one session.

What is your current height and weight?

I’m 6-foot and 155.

Have you had your wingspan measured?

Yes. I have a 6-foot-7 wingspan.

How do you feel you’ve done this AAU season?

I think I played good. I think I could have done stuff better so I’ve been putting in work now and in June so I can have an even better July.

The first of three live periods starts on Wednesday. What are you hoping to show college coaches this month? What are some of your goals?

I want college coaches to see that I’m very vocal, that I put my teammates in the best position to score, that I’m a past first point guard and I can knock down shots when I need to.

With your length and lateral quickness, how do you try to impact the game defensively?

I try to use my length and my quickness on defense by picking up the opponents point guard at 94-feet, no matter who it is, pester him and try to make it uncomfortable for him to run his offense.

You have offers or interest from more than 20 schools right now. Which programs do you feel are saying to you Rondo, you’re our guy?

Buffalo and USF. Buffalo texts me at least three times a week, they hit me up all the time. Their assistant Bryan Hodgson that’s who texts me most of the time. They’re saying that I can be their next point guard.

You recently took an unofficial visit to USF with your AAU Coach and some of your teammates. How did that go?

USF was a really good visit, I really liked it. It was a really nice campus, they have great facilities. I didn’t realize it was that big or that nice because it was my first time there. I like what they said to us about what we bring if we come to that school.

UCF is just a few minutes away from your high school, they offered you a couple of years ago but had a coaching change. Is UCF on you hard?

They like me but they’re full at the guard spot. We just played at their team camp and they were at every one of our games. It was a good team camp but other than that they’re not really recruiting me.

What would you like for fans to know about you away from the court?

Um, I don’t play any video games or own a game system. I just watch TV and hang with my family.

What are you going to look for, whenever you do decide?

The best fit possible. Just how I can come into that program and have a big impact on that team
