TAMPA, Fla., (Mar. 26, 2023) – What a week in the South Florida men’s basketball coach search. There was quite a bit of smoke, but no fire. Below is a timeline of activity:

It began on Monday Mar. 20, with our story that former Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey was expected to be hired by USF.

By Tuesday night Mar. 21, both USF and Brey had pushed back on our reporting and announced that he was focused on a TV career. Late Tuesday night a source informed us that Utah State head coach Ryan Odom had interviewed for the USF job. Tuesday night, on our premium message board, we posted Coach Search Rumor Mill No. 5 with quite a bit of new information.

Wednesday morning, Mar. 22, BullsInsider.com published our third USF Coach Search Hot Board, which included Odom. Wednesday night we first saw a Tweet that mentioned Odom and the Bulls.
