Emerging 2018 Chicago point guard picks up USF offer

Xavier Castañeda, a 6-foot point guard from Chicago, Illinois, picked up an offer from South Florida Saturday evening.

Castañeda who played for Mean Streets on the Nike EYBL Circuit, averaged 9 points, 4.1 assists, 2 rebounds, 1.8 turnovers and 1.2 steals per EYBL game according to according to krossover.com. He shot 40 percent from the floor and attempted 35 percent of his shots in the mid-range, connecting on 39 percent of those attempts.

USF made the offer after watching Castañeda at the Victor Oladipo Skills Academy in Maryland. He was a breakout player and the top facilitator at the camp averaging 4.5 assists per game.
