Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson outside linebacker Juwuan Brown becomes the 12th verbal commitment of the 2014 recruiting class for USF.
Juwuan is the sixth Tampa Bay area commit for the Bulls - and is the second outside linebacker verbal commit (Jimmy Bayes). The 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect has been high on USF since the spring - and a commitment seemed to be inevitable.
He chose USF over Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, and Toledo.
Runningthebulls.com broke the story of Brown's commitment.
"I just committed to USF," Brown said. "I'm real committed to my hometown and I don't want to leave Florida. USF showed a lot of love. I love every time I come down - love the atmosphere of the school."
Brown is the second commitment from Jefferson High School - along with Deiondre Porter.
"I'm going to like that a lot," Brown said about playing with his teammate at the next level. "He's a good teammate - he just motivates me. We work good together and all that."
"I've been talking to Coach Reaves a lot - he was the one recruiting me. And the linebackers coach (Raymond Woodie) - they both real cool and straight up with me. The linebacker coach pulled me into his office - he showed me about the linebackers and all that. He said once the two linebackers leave I'll be competing."
It's a big relief for Brown to commit before his senior season.
"It's big. I don't really have to think about it all season - I just know where I want to go. I don't have to worry about any other schools."
"I bring good speed, explosiveness, and I make plays."
