Three-star Collins picks USF over Baylor

Anthony Collins, a point guard out of Westbury Christian in Houston, Texas, has verbally committed to the Bulls, his high school coach, Russell Carr, confirmed Saturday.
"He is going to South Florida," Carr said via text message.

Collins, who rivals.com rates a three-star, garnered interest from TCU, Texas Tech, USC, Nebraska and Minnesota, and Baylor (among others), and had recently narrowed his list of schools to Baylor and USF before picking the Bulls.
Collins, 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, averaged 11 points and 8 assists as a senior, garnering first team all-state honors while helping the Wildcats to the TAPPS Class 4A state championship game. He led his team to state championships as a junior and sophomore.
"Pass first point guard," Carr said of Collins, the all-time assists leader at his high school. "(He) makes average player look above average. Great defensive awareness."
Because USF used both available scholarships it had on commitments from 6-foot-10, 285 pound junior college center Andre Jackson and 7-foot-3, 291-pound prep center Jordan Omogbehin, the team is anticipating that at least one scholarship player from this past season won't return next season.
