USF extended an offer to Lombard (Illinois) Montini inside linebacker Nile Sykes. Runningthebulls.com caught up with the 24th ranked inside linebacker in the country.
"I've been talking to Coach Matthies and Coach von Bargen. I've been talking to those two and they've been telling me they're interested and all that. About the second or third phone call I had with them I spoke with the defensive coordinator and he let me know they were fired up about me and that I had an offer from them."
Sykes says he's pretty open to play anywhere in the country. He has no favorites at this point.
"A lot of schools have expressed interest that they want me to take official visits after the season. I haven't made a schedule yet, but I'm going to get one together. So that will kind of prolong my decision. I'll have to wait to make a top five. I want to see what other opportunities come my way before I cut anybody out."
Sykes says that Missouri, Syracuse, and USF are possible destinations for official visits so far.
"It's definitely a plus - the good weather and all that," he said about the state of Florida. "I'm not going to base my decision just on weather, but it'll be a component I guess."
"Minnesota was at my last game and they felt like I had a great game and that he'll go back to the school and go over everything with the coaching staff. Maybe I could hear something from them in the next couple of weeks or so, but as of right now that's the only school (that might offer soon)."
