There was an abundance of 2015 talent at the July 2013 Sling and Shoot event. The Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch High School squad came to compete - and they did just that.
Calvin Ridley was one of our five under the radar prospects to watch coming into the event and top prospect Shawn Burgess-Becker was one of our top performers on day one.
Runningthebulls.com talked to both of these 2015 prospects - detailing their recruitment.
Ridley, who plays wide receiver, has offers from Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, West Virginia, and USF.
"They're pretty high on me," Ridley said about USF. "My coach wants me to go there bad - I like it so far being here for my first time."
His high school coach attended USF. Ridley said that Head Coach Willie Taggart was the coach that offered him.
"We actually just met each other," Ridley said about wide receivers coach David Reaves. "He seems pretty cool. He talked to me - he said I can do big things here. I like him."
Ridley's teammate Shawn Burgess-Becker is one of the best 2015 prospects in the country - as he attended the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in Chicago in June.
Alabama, Florida, Miami, and LSU are among the schools that have offered the 6-foot-1, 185-pound safety.
The Crimson Tide have peaked his interest.
"I took a visit there this past week and I talked with Nick Saban," he explained about his trip. "(I) met the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator and some of the players. It was a great experience."
Burgess-Becker plans on waiting till signing day his senior season to commit.
