Kyler Laing talks recruitment and more

ORLANDO- Even after he decided to decommit from South Florida, Godby three-star defensive end Kyler Laing can't escape the draw of the Bulls program especially when his older brother Trey Laing keeps in his ear everyday about joining him in Tampa.

"I have a good relationship with coach Strong so I want to further my options and enjoy the recruiting process," Laing said. "They are still recruiting me hard with coach (Justin) Burke and coach Strong and we text every week."

Trey signed with the Bulls in December and Kyler says he feels some pressure from his family to reunite the brothers on the college level.

"My brother is committed there and my whole family likes it. My brother is recruiting me a lot. I can't ignore it, he is always in my ear about it.

Several programs outside Florida are also showing heavy interest.

"Indiana, Georgia Tech, UCF and Purdue are in the mix," he said. "I'm supposed to go up to see Wisconsin in May or April, but I don't know yet."

The Jackets are one of the schools recruiting Laing as either a defensive end or linebacker since they are now a 3-4 defense.

"I like Georgia Tech a lot, I've talked coach (Andy) McCollum a lot and we have a good relationship," he said.

Laing should have a better idea after the spring on what schools are seriously in the mix and which ones are out.
