Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay defensive back Deion Hallmon has well over 40 FBS offers so far in his recruitment. The 6-foot 165-pound three-star prospect has the Bulls in his top ten.
Along with USF, his top ten includes Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia, Florida State, Ole Miss, Washington State, N.C. State, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
"USF made my top because I would love to stay close to home because of my mom," Hallmon told Runningthebulls.com.
Hallmon likes USF for two reasons - being in-state and defensive line Coach Eric Mathies.
"He is a great guy and what I like the most [about him] is that he doesn't sugar coat anything and is always real with me," Hallmon said about Matthies. "I was thinking about committing early last week because of all the pressure and he was there and told me to relax and enjoy the process and take my visits."
By that statement, it seems Hallmon might have a choice of school in mind already. How important is staying in Florida to Hallmon?
"Because my mom - I love my mom too much to leave her but leaving Florida is a part of growing up and I don't think I'm ready for that yet."
Hallmon said that USF will be a school he takes an official visit to. He attended the USF satellite camp in Miramar - he didn't partake - just hung out with the coaches.
Recruiting Analyst Kynon Codrington said this in an article after Hallmon released his top ten: "If Signing Day were tomorrow he said it would be a tough call between Rutgers, Syracuse, and West Virginia because they are recruiting him the hardest."
Miami seems to be his dream offer since they're a big time local school. Coach Mathies and USF seem to have a fighting chance to reel in another solid defensive back prospect for the 2014 class.
