South Florida head football coach Willie Taggart spoke to the American Athletic Conference media about the upcoming game with Memphis (2-6, 0-3). The Bulls have been off since falling to Houston 35-23 in freshman QB Mike White's first collegiate start.

Taggart said the 'west coast offense' is still developing at USF.

"There's still a lot more that can be done within our offense," Taggart told the media. "Memphis is a group that plays very hard, and if you don't reciprocate that as a team you could pay. I think which offense can get a rhythm and score points Saturday is definitely important to the overall outcome of the game."

Taggart says following the half way point USF football is much better than what they were when he first arrived.

"Now our guys are beginning to understand what we have to do to be successful and these habits don't just break overnight," Taggart said. "We've seen so much improvement and it will only continue to excel in the future."

The decision to pull the redshirt off White, who played one series against Louisville, has paid off in Taggart's eyes. Taggart credited White's work ethic.

"We shot ourselves in the foot playing against Houston; however seeing some solid offense got everyone excited and ready for this upcoming game against Memphis." Taggart said. "We are happy to get back on a routine moving on with these next four ball games."

"Mike White has managed to build the team up when they were down; and on top on his talent he put the ball where his receivers could catch it."

Concluding this week's teleconference Taggart said, "I'm a firm believer in that you practice well, you play well."

USF will face off with Memphis, an old Conference USA rival, Saturday at 7 PM at Raymond James Stadium.
