The Willie Taggart era at USF will have Matt Floyd as the starter Saturday when the Bulls take on McNeese State.

Floyd, a 6-foot-1, 206 pound redshirt sophomore from Milton, Fla. - won the starting job over senior Bobby Eveld, sophomore transfer Steven Bench, redshirt freshman Tommy Eveld and freshman Mike White.

Floyd finished last year as the replacement starter for Eveld. Eveld took over when B.J. Daniels got hurt against Connecticut. Eveld lasted only two series, before also going down with separated left shoulder against Miami the next week.

Enter Floyd - who played the final two games for the Bulls, but was unable to lead USF to the end zone.

Floyd finished the season with 466 yards passing and no touchdowns, but five interceptions.

Taggart has repeatedly said that Floyd has to cut down on the turnovers.

In the spring game, Floyd looked poised, throwing a 74 yard TD to Andre Davis on the first play of the series.

He also threw a fade pass to Davis in the end zone to seal the game for the White team.
