Spring practice is underway for the USF football team and from the start, it's clear that there is a new attitude under new head coach Willie Taggart.

One player that seems to be attacking spring with a new attitude is junior wide-receiver Andre Davis.

Going into spring practice, Davis knows that he needs to take on the leadership role that was vacated by graduating senior BJ Daniels.

"I just want to come here and be the one to lead by example," said Davis. "Set an example for the younger guys."

Early in spring drills, Davis noticed that the practice style is much different under Taggart that it was under former head coach Skip Holtz.

"Everything is more up tempo," described Davis. "No more sitting back and waiting to do this and that."

When asked about the Taggart's new regime, especially wide receivers coach David Reeves, Davis was excited about getting back to work.

"I like Coach Reeves from the start. He is a good teacher, an awesome coach, an awesome person."

With no guarantees for and players on the roster from the new staff, Davis is ready to get to work and earn his place.

"I'm going to come out here and grind day in and day out," said Davis. "No layin' back, no sittin'."

Looking forward, Davis should be one of the top wide receivers to watch in the new-look Big East conference. And with the third rated recruiting class in the Big East coming in the fall, Davis should have plenty of weapons to compliment him in USF's new offense.
