The University of Miami has reportedly hired USF assistant Larry Scott as its new tight ends coach. The story was reported first by Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press.

Scott was a member of the first ever football recruiting class at USF, and has been on the Bulls' staff since 2006. He was the only coach to be retained by Willie Taggart from the Skip Holtz staff. While at USF, Scott coached a multitude of positions including running backs, tight ends, and offensive tackles.

Scott's departure is a huge loss for the USF football program. Scott was linked to some of the Bulls biggest commits for the 2013 signing class, including four-star Lamar Robbins, three-stars Deadrin Senat and Mike White. Scott had also been working on 2013 three-star recruits John O'Korn, Eddie Printz and Daniel Reid for the Bulls.

According to Rivals.com recruiting records, Scott has personally brought in 18 commits for USF since the 2008 recruiting class. Of those 18 commits, Scott signed one 4 star, ten 3 star and seven 2 star recruits.

Running The Bulls reached out to former and current members of the USF football program for their reaction to Coach Scott's departure.

Former USF Linebacker Sam Barrington

"It's the offseason but UM just got better. Whatever position he is associated with will excel. He's that good. I am happy for him."

2013 QB Signee Mike White (Recruited by Larry Scott)

"I just got off the phone with him. I understand that he made the decision based on what's best for him and his family and I respect that. It's unfortunate that he had to leave USF but I still have tons of respect towards him both as a coach and a man."
