Runningthebulls.com has confirmed that Booker High School defensive end Eric Mayes has officially signed his letter of intent to play for the University of South Florida.

Mayes, who is a Rivals.com three-star recruit, committed to play for the Bulls on January 20th, 2013. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Sarasota native chose to play for USF after receiving offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

Despite receiving more than 20 offers, Mayes only made one other visit, and that was to Kentucky in September 2012.

Mayes On his Visit and the USF Coaching Staff:

"I love the coaching staff and I really love coach Willie Taggart as a person and a coach," Mayes told Runningthebulls.com in January. "I took my mom with me and she loved it also."

"I talked to all the defensive staff and the defensive line coach (Eric Matheis). He showed me plays we are going to be running. I'm fired up - I'm ready to play."
