USF Head football coach Willie Taggart took another step towards completing his coaching staff, by hiring the son of a Tampa legend.

David Reaves - the son of former Tampa Robinson (and Florida) quarterabck John Reaves was selected to take the wide receivers coach position, as reported first by the Tampa Bay Times

That position was held by Plant High School head coach Robert Weiner for about 72 hours last week.

Reaves has ties to the Tampa area - not only from his father's family, but also serving as assistant head coach at Tampa Catholic for a season.

Reaves coached with Bulls DB coach Ron Cooper at South Carolina - under the tutelage of another famous Gator QB - Steve Spurrier.

Reaves served five years under Spurrier, moving up to quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator before departing in 2008.

After South Carolina, Reaves went to work at Tennessee(2009) for a year with Lane Kiffin. He left when Kiffin left and moved to New Mexico where he coached for two years.

He has spent the last year in Bradenton, Fla. - with the IMG Sports Academy.

More later.
