Following the Future: Trojan Commits

USC learned that any team can beat you anytime the hard way against Oregon State, and two Trojan commits learned that lesson last weekend.

Five-star receiver Randall Carroll and four-star defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo both had undefeated seasons tarnished with shocking losses last week. While Cathedral and Mt. SAC attempt to rebound, Calhoun County keeps rolling.

  • Matt Barkley - 6-foot-3, 225-pounds quarterback

    Mater Dei 35, St. John Bosco 6: Matt Barkley had 158 yards passing and two interceptions as the Monarchs go 4-0 in Trinity League play. On the season, Barkley has thrown for 2,306 yards.

    Mater Dei (7-2) will play Orange Lutheran Friday

  • Randall Carroll - 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver

    Cathedral 6, Harvard-Westlake 19: Randall Carroll caught a touchdown pass, but posted negative yards rushing as Cathedral gets caught looking ahead to next week's matchup with Serra. Carroll did get some good news Tuesday with an invitation to play in the Army All-American Bowl Jan. 3.

    Cathedral (8-1) will play Serra next Friday

  • Vontaze Burfict - 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker

    Corona Centennial 42, Santiago 30: Vontaze Burfict adds another nine tackles to has season total of 80 as Centennial wraps up another Big VIII title. Burfict also received his official invite to the Army All-American Bowl Jan. 3 in San Antonio (Texas).
