Cards have ground to gain with Wilson

Louisville hosted three-star linebacker Kion Wilson on an official visit this weekend. The 6-1, 225-pound prospect from Pearl River C.C. in Mississippi talked to as he waited to leave the Louisville airport, and gave us information on where he stands with the Cardinals despite being previously committed to South Florida...

"Everything went pretty good," Wilson said. "It's a real nice place."

After committing to USF in November over offers from Miami (Fla.) and Ole Miss, Wilson decided to make the trip to see Steve Kragthorpe's program. "They started recruiting me a little late," he said.

Still, what the Cardinals had to offer him was impressive. He said he most enjoyed "just the way the organization of the program was. One of the strengths about it was definitely the weight room."

Where does the visit put him now? "I just really don't know," Wilson answered. "They just got in so late and I'm really a man of my word."

When asked if that meant he was sticking with his decision to commit to USF, Wilson said, "that's probably right."

Wilson, who was hosted by UofL defensive end Peanut Whitehead, did have an interesting update on his host. "Yeah, he is (staying upbeat). He actually found someone at some place in Florida who is a specialist who is going to help try and get the problem with his back fixed."

Josh Wiley, a 6-1, 200-pound defensive back from Pearl River, joined Wilson on the trip and gave his verbal commitment to the Cards while on the visit.
