Williams will visit PSU spring game
Towson (Md.) Calvert Hall prospect C.J. Williams may not have a verbal offer yet, but it looks like that may only be a matter of time.
Since visiting West Virginia in early March, Williams said the Mountaineers have increased their interest in the 5-foot-11, 211 pound safety. A few other schools have done the same.
"I think I'm close to an offer from West Virginia," said Williams. "I've been getting a lot of interest from West Virginia, UConn, Rutgers, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Michigan State.
"I think (offers) are definitely about to come in, I just have to get to some schools and visit them."
All of those schools have Williams' attention, but another big-time program has become pretty attractive as well.
"I spoke with him roughly somewhere around the tenth of March," said Williams, referring to Penn State assistant coach Larry Johnson. "I was talking to him about going down to the spring game and meeting him there. They see me as a safety, he said that when I come up there, he's going to sit down and have a meeting with me, talk to me, so I don't know what's going to happen when I come up there, we'll see."
Williams said that Penn State is an attractive school more multiple reasons (good academics, Joe Paterno, Beaver Stadium), but the opportunity to play with his former teammate and recent Nittany Lion signee would also be pretty cool.
"I love him," said Williams, referring to Penn State's newest defensive back in the Class of 2011, Adrian Amos. "He's going to Penn State next year. Me and him, we played together and worked really hard together over the years. I have a great relationship with Adrian."
Williams would like to visit Missouri and Duke before their spring sessions are over, but as of now, his only scheduled visits are Penn State for the Blue-White Game on April 16, followed by a return trip to West Virginia the following weekend. He plans to make both of those trips with his parents.
