USF adds another one to the fold - and again it's in Tampa Bay.
"This is great for me," Porter told Runningthebulls.com. "USF has my major and a masters program. I won't have to go out of state to pursue my dreams."
Porter, a three-year starter at Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson, will likely make the transition from QB to DB/WR at USF.
"Coach Cooper wants to give me a chance as a cornerback," Porter said. "I might even get a chance as a receiver."
Porter had offers from Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, Iowa State and Samford
With his speed and size, Porter will be an asset to DB's coach Ron Cooper - and he knows how to read the routes of receivers, having spent time behind center. While he does not have a Rivals.com rating, it's most likely due to the fact that he is listed as a dual-threat QB.
Porter has blistering speed, clocked at 4.5 (unofficial) and ran track for Jefferson. He intends on running track for the Bulls as a long jumper and high hurdles.
His long jumping and high hurdling skills will show off in the defensive secondary.
Porter could get rated soon by Rivals as an 'ATH' and that will certainly be what he is to the USF Bulls.
Head coach Willie Taggart and staff continue to build a strong wall around the Tampa Bay marketplace.
