Local product Richard Benjamin takes one of his final official visits this weekend when he comes to see the USF.
Late in the recruiting season, Taggart is hoping that good visits may persuade the Benjamin to leave the Louisville Cardinals' nest for the Bulls' stampede.
This weekend, Taggart has paired the Tampa Bay Tech wide out with a host who plays on the other side of the ball, defensive back, Fidel Montgomery.
A Three star, wide receiver recruit, Benjamin is a popular player. Benjamin verbally committed to head coach Charlie Strong and the Cardinals on December 20th, amidst offers from thirty-three schools, including three from the Big East.
The 6-1, 195-pound, Tampa native, caught 35 passes for 509 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2012 for Tampa Bay Tech.
Benjamin, who de-committed from UCF in late August, also averaged nearly 7 yards on 103 rushes and had 7 touchdowns for the Titans.
Montgomery was unknown to most USF fans when he transferred from Southwest Mississippi Community College (JUCO) prior to the 2012 season. Montgomery made an immediate impact with the Bulls, playing in all 12 games in 2012 and registering 19 total tackles and a forced fumble.
The pair will get a chance to get to know each other over the weekend. Montgomery will have the opportunity to show Benjamin that he can contribute early to a USF wide-receiving corps that has struggled the past two seasons.
