Sophomore backup point guard Blake Nash announced yesterday he'll be transferring from USF, opening up another scholarship for the 2012 class.

Nash averaged just 3.4 points per game and averaged 12.2 minutes after the emergence of freshman point guard Anthony Collins, who was recently named team MVP.

The Bulls now have two scholarships to use for the 2012 class, and coach Stan Heath is still looking to add prep guard Sam Cassell Jr., a top 150 player who is down to Maryland, USF, and Pittsburgh and is expected to make a decision by early next week.

Potential backups for Collins next season include junior college transfer Musa Abdul-Aleem and Cassell, since another backup point guard - LaVonte Dority - transferred midseason.

Despite the high number of transfers in the last few seasons - Nash is the fourth transfer in the last two years - USF made the NCAA tournament last season for the first time in 20 years, beating California and Temple before losing in the round of 32 to Ohio.
